WE HEART WRAP MUSIC –
WHY, WHEN & HOW TO ROCK THEM HAND WRAPS
Wrapping your hands is a must for all Champs rocking BEATBOX! A good hand wrap can do two things.
First and foremost, it should protect Your hands, give you a level of confidence or a sense of security in knowing that You can punch with your full force and not hurt your fists.
Secondly, done correctly with the ideal length and quality of fabric it can also secure your fists in a way that will allow You to punch with full force and not feel it in your bones and joints of your hand.
The amount of confidence that You have in your ability to punch, injury-free, is SUPER important!
Otherwise, you may hesitate to load-up your punches, as you’ll be more worried that the impact might hurt you or do you damage.
Of course, good form and technique is critical to reducing injury, and punching efficiently, but wrapping your hands will certainly give You greater sense of comfort, confidence and security when hitting them heavy bags.
You should wear hand wraps whenever you BOX, and essentially, any time you’re using the full force of your punch.
Please be diligent with wrapping for your BEATBOX sessions to protect your hands and wrists. We so want you to feel safe, comfortable and free to enjoy rocking them punches.
There are many ways to wrap your hands for boxing. Historically boxing Trainers/Coaches would claim they had the “Secret” or “Magic” wrap technique to improve a fighter’s chance in the Ring.
The truth is there’s no “Magic” wrapping formula, HOWEVER there are basic and sensible ways to wrap that should always follow the mechanics of the hand.
At BEATBOX we tend to teach and adopt the “3’s and X’s” method
3 times around the wrist,
3 times around the palm,
X’s to separate the knuckles,
Lock off the thumb,
3 times to bind the knuckles,
and lock off the wrap at the wrist to finish!
